North America generation equipment contracts activity up 18% in January 2021

There were 20 generation equipment contracts announced in the North America region in January 2021, marking a rise of 18% over the last 12-month average of 17, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the North America region in January 2021 with 42 contracts and a 43.8% share, followed by Electricity Procurement with 24 contracts and a 25% share and Generation Equipment with 20 contracts and a 20.8% share during the month.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

1. Supply & Erection: 19 contracts and a 95% share
2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one contract and a 5% share.

Wind is top technology for North America generation equipment contracts in January 2021

Looking at generation equipment contracts by the type of technology in the North America region, wind accounted for eight contracts with a 40% share, followed by thermal with six contracts and a 30% share and solar with four contracts and a 20% share.
