North America generation equipment contracts activity up 2% in Q2 2020

There were 45 generation equipment contracts announced in the North America region in Q2 2020, marking a rise of 2% over the last 12-month average of 44, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Electricity Procurement stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the North America region in Q2 2020 with 88 contracts and a 31% share, followed by Power Plant with 56 contracts and a 19.7% share and Generation Equipment with 45 contracts and a 15.8% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 36 contracts and an 80% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: eight contracts and a 17.8% share
  3. Project Implementation: one contract and a 2.2% share.

Thermal is top technology for North America generation equipment contracts in Q2 2020

Looking at generation equipment contracts by the type of technology in the North America region, thermal accounted for 22 contracts with a 48.9% share, followed by wind with 13 contracts and a 28.9% share and solar with nine contracts and a 20% share.
