North America power plant contracts activity down 3% in Q2 2020

There were 56 power plant contracts announced in the North America region in Q2 2020, marking a drop of 3% over the last 12-month average of 58, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Electricity Procurement stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the North America region in Q2 2020 with 88 contracts and a 31% share, followed by Power Plant with 56 contracts and a 19.7% share and Generation Equipment with 45 contracts and a 15.8% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 47 contracts and an 83.9% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: seven contracts and a 12.5% share
  3. Power Purchase Agreement: one contract and a 1.8% share
  4. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one contract and a 1.8% share.
