North America solar technology contracts in December 2020 saw 23 contracts announced, marking a drop of 41% over the last 12-month average of 39, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of solar technology contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

1. Power Purchase Agreement with 14 contracts and a 60.9% share
2. Supply & Erection: five contracts and a 21.7% share
3. Project Implementation: three contracts and a 13% share
4. Electricity Supply: one contract and a 4.3% share.

The US tops North America solar power contracts activity

The US was the top country in the North America region for solar technology contracts recorded in December 2020 with 20 contracts and an 87% share, followed by Canada with three contracts and a 13% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:

1. Amazon Web Services (United States): 1,210MW from two contracts
2. Terra-Gen L (United States): 1,118MW from one contract
