North America Solar technology contracts activity drops 42% in March 2021

North America solar technology contracts in March 2021 saw 22 contracts announced, marking a drop of 42% over the last 12-month average of 38, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of solar technology contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Power Purchase Agreement with eight contracts and a 36.4% share
  2. Project Implementation: six contracts and a 27.3% share
  3. Supply & Erection: five contracts and a 22.7% share
  4. Electricity Supply: three contracts and a 13.6% share.

The US tops North America solar power contracts activity

The US was the top country in the North America region for solar technology contracts recorded in March 2021 with 22 contracts and a 100% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:

  1. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Constellation NewEnergy (United States): 191MW from one contract
  2. Valley Clean Energy Alliance (United States): 165MW from one contract
  3. Target (United States): 160MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:

  1. Constellation NewEnergy (United States) and Lightsource BP Renewable Energy Investments (United Kingdom): 191MW from one contract
