North America T&D equipment contracts activity up 120% in Q2 2020

There were 33 T&D equipment contracts announced in the North America region in Q2 2020, marking a rise of 120% over the last 12-month average of 15, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Electricity Procurement stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the North America region in Q2 2020 with 88 contracts and a 31% share, followed by Power Plant with 56 contracts and a 19.7% share and Generation Equipment with 45 contracts and a 15.8% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 30 contracts and a 90.9% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 3% share
  3. Project Implementation: one contract and a 3% share
  4. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one contract and a 3% share.

Wind is top technology for North America T&D equipment contracts in Q2 2020

Looking at T&D equipment contracts by the type of technology in the North America region, wind accounted for two contracts with a 50% share, followed by solar with one contract and a 25% share and thermal with one contract and a 25% share.
