Global power industry contracts in Q2 2019: Hydro technology down 33%
Oil and gas companies are making moves into the UK energy market.

Hydro technology contracts activity in Q2 2019 saw 33 contracts announced, marking a drop of 33% over the last four-quarter average of 49, according to GlobalData's power industry contracts database.

Looking at global power contracts activity divided by the type of technology, hydro held the fourth position in terms of number of contracts during Q2 2019 with a 4.8% share.

The proportion of contracts by category in the Hydro technology tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: ten contracts and a 30.3% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: seven contracts and a 21.2% share
  3. Project Implementation: seven contracts and a 21.2% share
  4. Power Purchase Agreement: four contracts and a 12.1% share
  5. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three contracts and a 9.1% share
  6. Electricity Supply: two contracts and a 6.1% share.

Europe leads hydro contracts activity in Q2 2019

Comparing contracts activity in hydro technology in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 12 contracts and a share of 36.4% during Q2 2019, followed by Asia-Pacific with six contracts and an 18.2% share and South and Central America with six contracts and an 18.2% share.

In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with five contracts and a 15.2% share and in fifth place was North America with four contracts and a 12.1% share.
