Generation equipment contracts down 48% in August 2021

Generation equipment contracts in August 2021 saw 55 contracts announced, marking a drop of 48% over the last 12-month average of 105, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 50 contracts and a 90.9% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five contracts and a 9.1% share.

Asia-Pacific leads generation equipment activity in August 2021


Comparing contracts activity in generation equipment segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 16 contracts and a share of 29.1% during August 2021, followed by Europe with 15 contracts and a 27.3% share and North America with ten contracts and an 18.2% share.

Solar is leading technology for generation equipment contracts in August 2021

Among the technologies, solar accounted for 21 contracts with a 39.6% share, followed by wind with 16 contracts and a 30.2% share and hydro with seven contracts and a 13.2% share.
