Smart grid contracts in Q4 2019 saw 45 contracts announced, marking a rise of 50% over the last four-quarter average of 30, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 44 contracts and a 97.8% share
  2. Project Implementation: one contract and a 2.2% share.

Europe leads smart grid activity in Q4 2019

Comparing contracts activity in smart grid segment in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 22 contracts and a share of 48.9% during Q4 2019, followed by Asia-Pacific with ten contracts and a 22.2% share and North America with eight contracts and a 17.8% share.

Wind is leading technology for smart grid contracts in Q4 2019

Among the technologies, wind accounted for five contracts with a 45.5% share, followed by solar with three contracts and a 27.3% share and thermal with one contract and a 9.1% share.
