South and Central America power plant contracts activity down 52% in Q1 2020

There were 23 power plant contracts announced in the South and Central America region in Q1 2020, marking a drop of 52% over the last 12-month average of 48, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the South and Central America region in Q1 2020 with 23 contracts and a 34.8% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 18 contracts and a 27.3% share and Electricity Procurement with 11 contracts and a 16.7% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
