South and Central America power plant contracts activity up 316% in Q4 2019

There were 104 power plant contracts announced in the South and Central America region in Q4 2019, marking a rise of 316% over the last 12-month average of 25, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the South and Central America region in Q4 2019 with 104 contracts and a 66.7% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 22 contracts and a 14.1% share and Electricity Procurement with 21 contracts and a 13.5% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 99 contracts and a 95.2% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: four contracts and a 3.8% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 1% share.

Wind is top technology for South and Central America power plant contracts in Q4 2019
