T&D equipment contracts down 19% in May 2020

T&D equipment contracts in May 2020 saw 21 contracts announced, marking a drop of 19% over the last 12-month average of 26, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 17 contracts and an 81% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 9.5% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 4.8% share
  4. Project Implementation: one contract and a 4.8% share.

Europe leads T&D equipment activity in May 2020

Comparing contracts activity in T&D equipment segment in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 15 contracts and a share of 71.4% during May 2020, followed by North America with three contracts and a 14.3% share and Middle East and Africa with two contracts and a 9.5% share.

Wind is leading technology for T&D equipment contracts in May 2020

Among the technologies, wind accounted for three contracts with a 50% share, followed by solar with two contracts and a 33.3% share and hydro with one contract and a 16.7% share.
