T&D equipment contracts up 47% in Q3 2020
Oil and gas companies are making moves into the UK energy market.

T&D equipment contracts in Q3 2020 saw 159 contracts announced, marking a rise of 47% over the last four-quarter average of 108, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 134 contracts and an 84.3% share
  2. Project Implementation: 16 contracts and a 10.1% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: eight contracts and a 5% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 0.6% share.

Europe leads T&D equipment activity in Q3 2020

Comparing contracts activity in T&D equipment segment in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 101 contracts and a share of 63.5% during Q3 2020, followed by North America with 24 contracts and a 15.1% share and Asia-Pacific with 19 contracts and an 11.9% share.

Wind is leading technology for T&D equipment contracts in Q3 2020

Among the technologies, wind accounted for 20 contracts with a 60.6% share, followed by thermal with six contracts and an 18.2% share and hydro with four contracts and a 12.1% share.
