T&D project contracts up 28% in Q2 2020

T&D project contracts in Q2 2020 saw 95 contracts announced, marking a rise of 28% over the last four-quarter average of 74, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 72 contracts and a 75.8% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 12 contracts and a 12.6% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: 11 contracts and an 11.6% share.

Europe leads T&D project activity in Q2 2020

Comparing contracts activity in T&D project segment in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 35 contracts and a share of 36.8% during Q2 2020, followed by Middle East and Africa with 28 contracts and a 29.5% share and South and Central America with 12 contracts and a 12.6% share.

Wind is leading technology for T&D project contracts in Q2 2020

Among the technologies, wind accounted for 22 contracts with a 53.7% share, followed by solar with 11 contracts and a 26.8% share and thermal with four contracts and a 9.8% share.

T&D project contracts in Q2 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of T&D project contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Khoramabad Power Generation (Iran): 484MW from one contract
  2. CPL: 90MW from one contract
  3. Naval Submarine Base New London: 10.75MW capacity from one contract.

  1. MAPNA Group (Iran): 484MW from one contract
