T&D project contracts up 1% in Q3 2020

T&D project contracts in Q3 2020 saw 87 contracts announced, marking a rise of 1% over the last four-quarter average of 86, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 58 contracts and a 66.7% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: 18 contracts and a 20.7% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: ten contracts and an 11.5% share
  4. Supply & Erection: one contract and a 1.1% share.

Middle East and Africa leads T&D project activity in Q3 2020

Comparing contracts activity in T&D project segment in different regions of the globe, Middle East and Africa held the top position with 31 contracts and a share of 35.6% during Q3 2020, followed by Europe with 28 contracts and a 32.2% share and Asia-Pacific with 15 contracts and a 17.2% share.

Wind is leading technology for T&D project contracts in Q3 2020

Among the technologies, wind accounted for 21 contracts with a 63.6% share, followed by solar with seven contracts and a 21.2% share and thermal with three contracts and a 9.1% share.

T&D project contracts in Q3 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of T&D project contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. MAPNA Group (Iran): 480MW from one contract
  2. UPC AC Renewables Australia (Australia): 400MW from one contract
  3. New and Renewable Energy Authority (Egypt): 252MW capacity from one contract.

T&D project contracts in Q3 2020: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. MAPNA Power Plants Construction and Development (Iran): 480MW from one contract
  2. Elecnor (Spain): 456MW from two contracts
  3. White Construction (United States): 302MW capacity from one contract.
