T&D project contracts up 21% in Q4 2019

T&D project contracts in Q4 2019 saw 80 contracts announced, marking a rise of 21% over the last four-quarter average of 66, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 62 contracts and a 77.5% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: 11 contracts and a 13.8% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: seven contracts and an 8.8% share.

Europe leads T&D project activity in Q4 2019

Comparing contracts activity in T&D project segment in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 25 contracts and a share of 31.3% during Q4 2019, followed by Middle East and Africa with 24 contracts and a 30% share and Asia-Pacific with 21 contracts and a 26.3% share.

Wind is leading technology for T&D project contracts in Q4 2019

Among the technologies, wind accounted for 12 contracts with a 57.1% share, followed by solar with five contracts and a 23.8% share and nuclear with two contracts and a 9.5% share.

The top issuers of T&D project contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:
