T&D project contracts in September 2020 saw 27 contracts announced, marking a drop of 10% over the last 12-month average of 30, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 23 contracts and an 85.2% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 7.4% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: two contracts and a 7.4% share.

Middle East and Africa leads T&D project activity in September 2020

Comparing contracts activity in T&D project segment in different regions of the globe, Middle East and Africa held the top position with 11 contracts and a share of 40.7% during September 2020, followed by Asia-Pacific with six contracts and a 22.2% share and Europe with six contracts and a 22.2% share.

Wind is leading technology for T&D project contracts in September 2020

Among the technologies, wind accounted for seven contracts with a 53.8% share, followed by solar with three contracts and a 23.1% share and thermal with three contracts and a 23.1% share.

The top issuers of T&D project contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  2. UPC AC Renewables Australia (Australia): 400MW from one contract
  3. New and Renewable Energy Authority (Egypt): 252MW capacity from one contract.
