Canada power industry IT recruitment activity rises 1.2% in July 2021

Canada power industry registered a 1.2% rise in IT hiring activity in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.

The industry’s overall hiring decreased by 1.52% in July 2021 compared with June 2021.

Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 8.69% share in July 2021, recording an increase of 1.15% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada power industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada power industry in July 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 49.06% in July 2021, a 25.71% drop over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed an 18.87% share, decline of 16.67% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 13.21%, registering a 22.22% decline from June 2021.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 11.32%, up 100% over the previous month.

Top five power companies in Canada IT recruitment activity in July 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 6.9% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada power industry during July 2021 over June 2021.

Siemens posted 11 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Atco with 8 jobs and a 33.33% growth. Enphase Energy with 4 IT jobs and Emera with 4 jobs, recorded a 100% growth and a 60% decline, respectively, while NRG Energy recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during July 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.04%, down by 16.67% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with an 18.87% share, a decline of 28.57% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 15.09% share, up 33.33% over June 2021.
