Canada power industry registered a 6.3% decline in IT hiring activity in April 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
The industry’s overall hiring decreased by 5.9% in April 2021 compared with March 2021.
Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 7.05% share in April 2021, recording decrease of 0.42% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada power industry’s IT recruitment activity in April 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.28% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada power industry in April 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 43.1% in April 2021, a 3.85% drop over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 34.48% share, an increase of 150% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 12.07%, registering a 75% rise from March 2021.
4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 5.17%, a flat growth over the previous month.
Top five power companies in Canada IT recruitment activity in April 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 57.14% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada power industry during April 2021 over March 2021.
Siemens posted 11 IT jobs in April 2021 and registered a drop of 35.29% over the previous month, followed by Atco with 7 jobs and a flat growth. Xylem with 6 IT jobs and Emera with 5 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 25% increase, respectively, while Enmax recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during April 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 81.03%, up by 56.67% from March 2021. Mid Level positions with a 13.79% share, a decline of 27.27% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 5.17% share, down 40% over March 2021.
