The UK power industry registered a 3.3% decline in IT hiring activity in June 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
The industry’s overall hiring an increased by 0.92% in June 2021 compared with May 2021.
Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 7.82% share in June 2021, recording decrease of 0.42% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the UK power industry’s IT recruitment activity in June 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.86% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK power industry in June 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 53.41% in June 2021, a 26.56% drop over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed an 18.18% share, an increase of 77.78% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 12.5%, registering a 45% decline from May 2021.
4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 7.95%, down 12.5% over the previous month.
Top five power companies in the UK IT recruitment activity in June 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 20.29% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK power industry during June 2021 over May 2021.
SSE posted 20 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a drop of 47.37% over the previous month, followed by National Grid with 12 jobs and a 50% growth. Siemens with 9 IT jobs and Centrica with 8 jobs, recorded a 200% growth and a 50% decline, respectively, while The Institution of Engineering and Technology recorded a 50% an increase with 6 job postings during June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 75%, down by 24.14% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with an 18.18% share, a decline of 27.27% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 5.68% share, down 16.67% over May 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.14%, recording a month-on-month decline of 66.67%.
