The US power industry registered a 1.2% rise in IT hiring activity in June 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
The industry’s overall hiring decreased by 1.26% in June 2021 compared with May 2021.
Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 7.25% share in June 2021, recording an increase of 0.35% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the US power industry’s IT recruitment activity in June 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.29% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US power industry in June 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 43.69% in June 2021, a 12.24% growth over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 16.86% share, an increase of 23.23% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 16.24%, registering a 17.95% rise from May 2021.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 12%, up 2.26% over the previous month.
Top five power companies in the US IT recruitment activity in June 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 45.13% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US power industry during June 2021 over May 2021.
PG&E posted 134 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a rise of 185.11% over the previous month, followed by NextEra Energy with 127 jobs and a 13.39% growth. Siemens with 59 IT jobs and CMS Energy with 42 jobs, recorded a 31.11% growth and a 31.25% increase, respectively, while Schneider Electric recorded a 2.44% decline with 40 job postings during June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 51.9%, down by 5.92% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with a 32.39% share, a growth of 72.3% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.56% share, up 10% over May 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.15%, recording a month-on-month an increase of 62.5%.
