Description
The project was developed by Kafue Gorge Lower Power Development. The project is co-owned by Sinohydro and ZESCO, with their respective ownership stake of 50% each.
The hydro reservoir capacity is 80 million cubic meter. The gross head of the project is 200m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 5 in number. The penstock length is 740m. The penstock diameter is 4.8m. The project generated 2,575 GWh of electricity.
