In this month’s issue we explore the latest developments in clean energy generation. We look at intellectual property rights covering the transfer of clean energy technology and investigate investment trends in renewable energy and future growth areas across the developing world.

We also look at recent advancements in the emerging tidal energy sector, including a recently approved scheme in Scotland which will create the largest tidal array in the world, and explore what it means for the progress of marine energy.

Concern about dwindling resources coupled with active government policy in many countries has resulted in a boom in biofuel research. We profile the state of the biofuels industry and explore the impact of emerging technologies.

Next Issue: Fossil Fuels

The major challenge facing fossil fuel-based power generation today is the need to reduce emissions to meet increasingly strict standards. Earlier this year, the US Environmental Protection Agency proposed the first-ever national standards to limit toxic power plant emissions.

Next month we draw together the views of leading industry experts, academics and environmental experts on the issue of conquering power plant emissions. We investigate technologies that aim to clean up fossil fuelled power, for example filters designed to reduce pollutants from coal-fired plants, and catch up on progress in carbon capture and storage.

We also check in on the future of coal-fuelled power generation, looking at the example of China, which is well placed to take a leadership role in the further development of IGCC technology.
