Canada’s power industry registered a 30.0% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 42.11% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.
Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 8.08% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 0.1% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s power industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.95% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s power industry in August 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 44.21% in August 2022, registering a 162.5% growth over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 17.89% share, an increase of 142.86% over the previous month.
3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 16.84%, registering a 100% rise from July 2022.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 13.68%, up 116.67% over the previous month.
Top five power companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 433.33% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s power industry during August 2022 over July 2022.
Stem posted 28 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Algonquin Power & Utilities with 19 jobs and a flat growth. Hydro One with 6 IT jobs and Atco with 6 jobs, recorded a 20% growth and a 50% growth, respectively, while Peak Power recorded an increase of 66.67% with 5 job postings during August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 73.68%, up by 169.23% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 14.74% share, registered an increase of 27.27% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.47% share, up 12.5% over July 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 2.11%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
