The project was developed by Marubeni and Sweihan PV Power. Abu Dhabi National Energy and JinkoSolar Holding are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 60% and 40% respectively.
ADWEA Sweihan Solar PV Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 8 km².
The project generates 2,594GWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 90,000 households, offsetting 7,000,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $871.2m.
The project got commissioned in April 2019.
Power Purchase Agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Emirates Water and Electricity under a power purchase agreement. The power is sold at the rate of $0.024kWh for a period of 25 years, starting from 2019. The contracted capacity is 938MW.
Sterling and Wilson Solar was selected to render EPC services for the solar PV power project.
JinkoSolar Holding was selected as the supplier of the PV modules for the project. The company installed 3,200,000 modules at the site.
Ingeteam Power Technology S.A. Energy supplied 402 of its 1,000V INGECON SUN PowerMax B series inverters to the project site.
The project is utilising trackers supplied by Greencells.
Ingeteam Corporacion and Sterling and Wilson Solar were contracted to render operations & maintenance services for the project.
