Description

The AES, BNDES Participacoes and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 45.32%, 9.91% and 7.56% respectively.

Agua Vermelha is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 11.025 million cubic meter. The gross head of the project is 57m.

Development Status

The project construction commenced in 1973 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1978.

Contractors Involved

GE Renewable Energy was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 6 units of francis turbines, each with 233MW nameplate capacity.

GE Renewable Energy supplied 6 electric generators for the project.
