AI Khairat Heavy Oil Power Plant, Iraq

The AI Khairat Heavy Oil Power Plant is 3,200MW oil fired power project. It is planned in Karbala, Iraq. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in multiple phases. The project construction is likely to commence in 2023 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2024.

Description

The project is being developed and currently owned by Harlow International.

It is a Steam Turbine power plant.

The project cost is expected to be around $5,700m.

The thermal power project will consists of 8 turbines each with 400 MW nameplate capacity.

Development Status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2023. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2024.

Contractors Involved

CITIC Construction is expected to render EPC services for the oil fired power project.

CITIC Construction is expected to perform operations and maintenance for thermal power project for a period of 10 years.
