Al Sadr Power Plant is a 644MW gas fired power project. It is located in Baghdad, Iraq. The project is currently active. It has been developed in multiple phases. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in April 2011.

Description

The project is currently owned by Ministry of Electricity, Iraq with a stake of 100%.

It is a Gas Turbine power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on gasoil. The fuel is procured from South Pars gas field.

Development Status

The project got commissioned in April 2011.

Contractors Involved

Ameran Ofogh was selected to render EPC services for the Al Sadr Power Plant (Al Sadr Power Plant Phase I Unit 1&2) project. Ameran Ofogh was selected to render EPC services for the Al Sadr Power Plant (Al Sadr Power Plant Phase II Unit 3&4) project. Farab was selected to render EPC services for the Al Sadr Power Plant (Al Sadr Power Plant Phase II Unit 3&4) project. SUNIR was selected to render EPC services for the Al Sadr Power Plant (Al Sadr Power Plant Phase I Unit 1&2) project.

Al Sadr Power Plant (Al Sadr Power Plant Phase I Unit 1&2) is equipped with Siemens gas turbines. The phase consists of 2 gas turbines, each with 162MW nameplate capacity.

Al Sadr Power Plant (Al Sadr Power Plant Phase II Unit 3&4) is equipped with Siemens gas turbines. The phase consists of 2 gas turbines, each with 160MW nameplate capacity.

SUNIR is the O&M contractor for the Al Sadr Power Plant (Al Sadr Power Plant Phase I Unit 1&2).
