Description

The project is being developed by Biovea Energie. Electricite de France, Meridiam and Biokala are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 40%, 36% and 24% respectively.

The project is expected to generate 348GWh electricity to offset 160,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

The process of combustion will be adopted in this project to release the stored energy from the feed. Palm oil which is a kind of agricultural by-product will be used as a feedstock to power the project.

The project consists of 2 turbines, each with 23MW nameplate capacity.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2022. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2025.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project will be sold to Compagnie Ivoirienne d'Electricite under a power purchase agreement. The power will be sold at the rate of $1kWh for a period of 25 years.

Contractors involved

China Energy Engineering is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.
