Description

The project was developed by Horizon Energy Group and Kirmart. Acciona Wind Energy USA, Axium Infrastructure, EDP Renovaveis and Leeward Renewable Energy are currently owning the project.

The project supplies enough clean energy to power 140,000 households.

The Blue Canyon (Blue Canyon I), has 70m high towers.

The Blue Canyon (Blue Canyon IIA), has 67m high towers.

The Blue Canyon (Blue Canyon III), has 80m high towers.

The Blue Canyon (Blue Canyon VI), has 80m high towers.

Development status

The project is currently active. The project got commissioned in December 2003.

Power purchase agreement

Georgia Power, Public Service Company of Oklahoma and Western Farmers Electric Cooperative are the power offtakers from the project.

Contractors involved

M. A. Mortenson was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the wind power project.

Blue Canyon (Blue Canyon I) is equipped with Vestas Wind Systems J48c turbines. The phase consists of 45 turbines with 1.65MW nameplate capacity.

Blue Canyon (Blue Canyon IIA) is equipped with Vestas Wind Systems V80-1.8 MW turbines. The phase consists of 73 turbines with 1.8MW nameplate capacity.

Blue Canyon (Blue Canyon IIB) is equipped with Vestas Wind Systems V80-1.8 MW turbines. The phase consists of 11 turbines with 1.8MW nameplate capacity.

Blue Canyon (Blue Canyon III) is equipped with GE Renewable Energy 1.5-77 turbines. The phase consists of 66 turbines with 1.5MW nameplate capacity.

Blue Canyon (Blue Canyon VI) is equipped with Vestas Wind Systems V90-1.8 MW turbines. The phase consists of 55 turbines with 1.8MW nameplate capacity.

Vestas Wind Systems is the O&M contractor for the wind power project for a period of 5 years.
