Description
The project was developed by Orsted and PNE. Orsted, Kirkbi and The Oticon Foundation are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 50%, 32% and 18% respectively.
The wind turbines in the Borkum Riffgrund 1 – Phase I are installed on fixed foundations. An array of monopile foundations feature in the phase.
The wind turbines in the Borkum Riffgrund 1 – Phase II are installed on fixed foundations. An array of suction bucket jacket foundations feature in the phase.
The project supplies enough clean energy to power 320,000 households.

The project is currently active. The project construction commenced in 2013 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in October 2015.
Contractors Involved
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy was selected as the turbine supplier for the wind power project. The project consists of 78 units of SWT-4.0-120 turbines, each with 4MW nameplate capacity.
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is the O&M contractor for the wind power project for a period of 10 years.
