Chirkeiskaya is a 1,000MW hydro power project. It is located on Sulak river/basin in Dagestan, Russia. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 1964 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1974.

Chirkeiskaya is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 2.78 million cubic meter. The net head of the project is 170m. The project generated 2,470 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $283m.

Development Status

The project construction commenced in 1964 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1974.

Contractors Involved

Power Machines was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 4 units of francis turbines, each with 250MW nameplate capacity.

Uralelectrotyazhmash supplied electric generator(s) for the project.
