Europe electricity procurement contracts activity down 43% in October 2021

There were 24 electricity procurement contracts announced in the Europe region in October 2021, marking a drop of 43% over the last 12-month average of 42, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in October 2021 with 27 contracts and a 30.3% share, followed by Electricity Procurement with 24 contracts and a 27% share and Generation Equipment with 22 contracts and a 24.7% share during the month.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 15 contracts and a 62.5% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: nine contracts and a 37.5% share.

Solar is top technology for Europe electricity procurement contracts in October 2021

Looking at electricity procurement contracts by the type of technology in the Europe region, solar accounted for 19 contracts with a 76% share, followed by wind with six contracts and a 24% share.

Europe electricity procurement contracts in October 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of electricity procurement contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (Spain): 581.57MW from 15 contracts
  2. Engie (France): 55MW from one contract
  3. Dow (United States): 47MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Naturgy Renovables (Spain): 221.4MW from three contracts
  2. Ignis Desarrollo (Spain): 144.11MW from four contracts
  3. Bruc Energy SLU (Spain): 100MW capacity from three contracts.
