Description

The project was developed by Morrison Knudsen and is currently owned by Cemig Geracao e Transmissao with a stake of 100%.

Itutinga is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 11.4 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project are 27.1m and 25m respectively.

The project construction commenced in 1952 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1955.

Morgan Smith was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of kaplan turbines, each with 12.68MW nameplate capacity.
