Description

The project is being developed by Gabinete para a Administracao da Bacia Hidrografica do rio Cunene and Ministry of Energy and Water, Angola. These companies also have ownership stakes in the project.

The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 11 million cubic meter. The net head of the project will be 38.8m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 3 in number. The penstock length will be 80m. The penstock diameter will be 4.15m.

The hydro power project consists of 3 turbines, each with 26.3MW nameplate capacity.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2030. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2035.
