Jubail IWPP Plant is a 2,744MW gas fired power project. It is located in Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in 2010.

Description

The project was developed by Jubail Water and Power. The project is currently owned by Engie with a stake of 20%, Gulf Investment with a stake of 20%, International Company for Water and Power Projects with a stake of 20%, Saudi Electricity with a stake of 5% and Marafiq.

It is a combined cycle gas turbine (ccgt) power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on High Speed Diesel. The fuel is procured from Saudi Arabian Oil Co.

The project cost is $3,055m.

The project got commissioned in 2010.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Marafiq Water and Supply under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years from 2010. The contracted capacity is 2,744MW.

Contractors Involved

GE Power, Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering and Sidem were selected to render EPC services for the gas fired power project.

GE Power was selected as the turbine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company provided 12 units of 7F.04 gas turbines.

GE Power was selected as the turbine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company provided 3 units of Back Pressure steam turbines.

GE Power was selected as the turbine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company provided 1 unit of Condensing Type steam turbine.

GE Power supplied electric generator for the project.

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction supplied steam boiler for the project.

Jubail Operations & Maintenance is the O&M contractor for thermal power project, commencing from the year 2010.

Jubail Water and Power Company (JWAP) is an energy utility that operates power and desalination plant. The utility offers services such as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor services and operations and maintenance services. It operates plant, which provides 2,743.8 megawatts of power to the Saudi Grid and 800,000 cubic meters per day of desalinated water to the Saudi water infrastructure. It operates through three consortiums such as General Electric International Inc, Hyundai Heavy Industries and Societe Internationale de Dessalement. JWAP is headquartered in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
