The project was developed by Japan Metals & Chemicals, JFE Engineering and Tohoku Electric Power. The project is currently owned by Tohoku Electric Power.
The geothermal site has in total 26 number of wells. All of them are production wells.

The project got commissioned in May 1978.
Contractors Involved
Kakkonda (Kakkonda Unit 1) is equipped with Toshiba Energy Systems and Solutions turbine. The phase consists of 1 turbine with 50MWe nameplate capacity. Tohoku Hydropower & Geothermal Energy, is the steam raising contractor for the project.
