The project is currently owned by Comision Federal de Electricidad.
La Amistad-Mexico is a reservoir based project. The gross head and net head of the project are 53.6m and 35m respectively. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 4 in number. The penstock length is 294.2m. The penstock diameter is 4.8m. The project generated 161 GWh of electricity.

Contractors Involved
Hitachi Mitsubishi Hydro was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of francis turbines, each with 33MW nameplate capacity.
Hitachi Mitsubishi Hydro supplied 2 electric generators for the project.
