Lufubu 2 HPP, Zambia

Lufubu 2 HPP is an 88MW hydro power project. It is planned on Lufubu river/basin in Northern, Zambia. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in multiple phases. Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in 2025.

Description

The project is being developed and currently owned by LPC Lufubu Power.

The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 86 million cubic meter. The gross head of the project will be 83m. The penstock length will be 670m. The penstock diameter will be 4.2m.

Lufubu 2 HPP (Unit-I) consists of 1 unit of francis turbine with 44MW nameplate capacity.

Lufubu 2 HPP (Unit-II (Expansion)) consists of 1 unit of francis turbine with 44MW nameplate capacity.

The nameplate capacity of electric generator(s) to be installed at the Lufubu 2 HPP (Unit-I) site is 50 MVA.

The nameplate capacity of electric generator(s) to be installed at the Lufubu 2 HPP (Unit-II (Expansion)) site is 50 MVA.

Development Status

Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in 2025.
