Manwan is a 1,670MW hydro power project. It is located on Lancang river/basin in Yunnan, China. The project is currently active. It has been developed in multiple phases. The project construction commenced in 1986 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1993.

China Huaneng Group, Yunnan Development Investment and Yunnan Hongta Group are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 56%, 31.4% and 12.6% respectively.
Manwan is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 920 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project are 100m and 69.3m respectively.
The project construction commenced in 1986 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1993.
Power Purchase Agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to China Southern Power Grid under a power purchase agreement.
Manwan (Manwan I) is equipped with DEC Dongfang Electric Machinery francis turbines. The phase consists of 5 turbines with 250MW nameplate capacity.
Manwan (Manwan II) is equipped with DEC Dongfang Electric Machinery francis turbine. The phase consists of 1 turbine with 300MW nameplate capacity.
Manwan (Manwan III) is equipped with Chongqing Water Turbine Works francis turbine. The phase consists of 1 turbine with 120MW nameplate capacity.
DEC Dongfang Electric Machinery and Chongqing Water Turbine Works have supplied 6 and one generator, respectively.
