Meghnaghat Combined Cycle Power Plant, Bangladesh

Meghnaghat Combined Cycle Power Plant is a 450MW gas fired power project. It is located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in November 2002.

Description

The project was developed by Allied Energy Systems. The project is currently owned by China Southern Power Grid with a stake of 20.35% and China General Nuclear Power.

It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant that is used for Baseload. The fuel is procured from Titas Gas Transmission Company Ltd (Bhakrabad-Dewra Gas Pipeline).

The project cost is $295m.

The project got commissioned in November 2002.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Bangladesh Power Development Board under a power purchase agreement for a period of 22 years from 2002. The contracted capacity is 450MW.

Contractors Involved

Hyundai Engineering & Construction was selected to render EPC services for the gas fired power project.

The Gas fired project have been supplied by Fuji Electric and Siemens.

The electric generators for the project were procured from Fuji Electric and Siemens.

Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering supplied steam boiler for the project.
