Description

The project was developed by Anadolu Endustri Holding and is currently owned by Georgian Urban Energy.

Paravani is a run-of-river project. The net head of the project is 390.7m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 1 in number. The penstock length is 2.5m. The penstock diameter is 2.6m. The project generated 450.7 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $156.5m.

Development Status

The project construction commenced in 2009 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2015.

Contractors Involved

GE Renewable Energy was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of francis turbines, each with 45.4MW nameplate capacity.
