Rabigh IWSPP Power Plant, Saudi Arabia

Rabigh IWSPP Power Plant is a 590MW oil fired power project. It is located in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in July 2008.

Description

The project was developed by Rabigh Arabian Water & Electricity. International Company for Water and Power Projects, Oasis Power One Conventional Energy and Water and Rabigh Refining & Petrochemical are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 74%, 25% and 1% respectively.

It is a Steam Turbine with Cogen power plant. The fuel is procured from Rabigh Refining & Petrochemical Co.

The project cost is $1,300m.

The project got commissioned in July 2008.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Rabigh Refining & Petrochemical under a power purchase agreement for a period of 25 years.

Contractors Involved

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries was selected to render EPC services for the oil fired power project.

Mitsubishi Power was selected as the turbine supplier for the Oil fired project. The company provided 5 steam turbines, each with 118MW nameplate capacity.

Mitsubishi Power supplied steam boiler for the project.

Operacion y Mantenimiento Energy and Rabigh Power were contracted to render operations & maintenance services for the project.

About Rabigh Arabian Water & Electricity

Rabigh Arabian Water & Electricity Co Ltd (RAWEC), a subsidiary of ACWA Power International, is a special purpose company that design, develops, owns and operates power production and water desalination projects. The company is primarily engaged in power, steam and desalinated water production. It service offering include design and build, construction supervision, supply of power, water and steam to refinery and petrochemical companies; operation and maintenance of conventional thermal power plants; and technical support services. RAWEC through its flue gas desulphurization (FGD) system controls sulfur dioxide to produce oxidized gypsum product for cement plants. The company works in partnership with Rabigh Power Co to provide operation and maintenance solutions. It has operations across Saudi Arabia. RAWEC is headquartered in Rabigh, Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
