Description
The project was developed by Acwa Power. Acwa Power Renewable Energy Holding and Al Gihaz Holding are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 70% and 30% respectively.
Sakaka Solar PV Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 6 km².
The project generates 940,000MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 75,000 households, offsetting 430,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.
Development status
The project got commissioned in 2020.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Saudi Power Procurement under a power purchase agreement. The power is sold at the rate of $0.023kWh for a period of 25 years, starting from 2020. The contracted capacity is 300MW.

InTEC Energy Solutions, Mahindra Susten and Zhejiang Chint New Energy Development were selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the solar PV power project.
Zhejiang Chint New Energy Development was selected as the supplier of the PV modules for the project. The company installed 296,520 modules at the site.
Huawei Technologies supplied 900 of its SUN2000-90KTL inverters to the project site.
The project is utilising single axis trackers supplied by NEXTracker.
Diaa Sakaka Operation and Maintenance is the O&M contractor for the solar PV power project.
