Salalah IPP 2 Power Plant, Oman

Salalah IPP 2 Power Plant is a 445MW gas fired power project. It is located in Dhofar, Oman. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in January 2018.

Description

The project was developed by Dhofar Generating Co SAOC. Mitsui, International Company for Water and Power Projects and Dhofar International Development & Investment Holding Co.S.A.O.G are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 45%, 27% and 10% respectively.

It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Fuel oil.

The project cost is $450m.

The project got commissioned in January 2018.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Oman Power and Water Procurement under a power purchase agreement for a period of 15 years.

Contractors Involved

SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction was selected to render EPC services for the gas fired power project.

The Gas fired project have been supplied by Doosan Skoda Power and GE Power.

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction supplied electric generator for the project.

The First National Operation & Maintenance is the O&M contractor for thermal power project.
