Description

The project is developed and owned by Empresa de Generacion Electrica San Gaban.

San Gaban is a run-of-river project. The gross head and net head of the project are 679m and 644m respectively. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 1 in number. The penstock length is 738m. The penstock diameter is 3.35m. The project generated 715 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $155m.

Development Status

The project got commissioned in 1999.

Contractors Involved

GE Renewable Energy was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of pelton turbines, each with 55MW nameplate capacity.

GE Renewable Energy supplied 2 electric generators for the project.
