Description

The project was developed by Edison and InterGen. The project is currently owned by China Southern Power Grid with a stake of 20.35% and China General Nuclear Power.

It is a Steam Turbine power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Heavy Fuel Oil. The fuel is procured from GASCO.

The project generated 4,705,000MWh of electricity.

The project got commissioned in January 2002.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Egyptian Electricity Holding under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years. The contracted capacity is 682.5MW.

Bechtel and Power Engineering Services were selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the gas fired power project.

GE Power was selected as the turbine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company provided 2 steam turbines, each with 341.25MW nameplate capacity.
