Solem Solar PV Park, Mexico

Solem Solar PV Park is a 348MW solar PV power project. It is located in Aguascalientes, Mexico. The project is currently active. It has been developed in multiple phases. The project construction commenced in 2017 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2019.

Description

The project was developed by Alten Energias Renovables. Cubico Sustainable Investments, Alten RE Developments America and Hokkaido Electric Power are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 70%, 18% and 12% respectively.

Solem Solar PV Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 1,035 hectares.

The project generates 878,000MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 1,000,000 households, offsetting 362,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $368m.

The project construction commenced in 2017 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2019.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Comision Federal de Electricidad under a power purchase agreement for a period of 15 years. The contracted capacity is 290MW.

Contractors Involved

Grupo Ortiz was selected to render EPC services for the solar PV power project.

Trina Solar was selected as the supplier of the PV modules for the Solem Solar PV Park (Solem I Solar PV Park). The company supplied modules with rated capacity of 330W.

JinkoSolar Holding was selected as the supplier of the PV modules for the Solem Solar PV Park (Solem II Solar PV Park). The company supplied modules with rated capacity of 330W.

Power Electronics Corp UK supplied 100 inverters to the site.

The Solem Solar PV Park (Solem I Solar PV Park) is utilising horizontal single axis trackers supplied by Gonvarri Corporacion Financiera.

The Solem Solar PV Park (Solem II Solar PV Park) is utilising horizontal single axis trackers supplied by Gonvarri Corporacion Financiera.

Grupo Ortiz is the O&M contractor for the solar PV power project for a period of 5 years.
