Description
The project was developed by SunEdison. Globeleq South Africa Management Services and Public Investment are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 51% and 24% respectively.
Soutpan Solar Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 180 hectares.
The project generates 61,000MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 13,000 households, offsetting 17,080t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.
Development status
The project got commissioned in July 2014.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Eskom Holdings SOC under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years from 2014. The contracted capacity is 28MW.

ABB and SunEdison were selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the solar PV power project.
Zhejiang Chint New Energy Development was selected as the supplier of the PV modules for the project. The company provided 100,000 modules each with 280W of nameplate capacity.
The inverters were procured from ABB for the project.
The project is utilising single axis trackers supplied by Aveng.
