The project was developed by Oy Tampella and is currently owned by Oulun Energia Siirto ja Jakelu.
The process of combustion has been adopted in this combined heat and power (CHP) project to release the stored energy from the feed. Wood waste which is a kind of wood by-product is used as a feedstock to power the project.
The project got commissioned in 1977.
